Speeding has long been an issue in Stewartby; the situation has improved since the introduction of average speed cameras, but the problem still persists.
If you break the speed limit you break the law. It is dangerous – not just for yourself but to those around you too. There are enough threats for everyone to worry about at the moment, the last thing they need is to have to worry about your reckless driving as well. Please, if not for your own safety then for the safety of others, do not speed.
The council would also like to take this opportunity to remind everyone of the rules surrounding cycling. With summer just around the corner going for a bike ride is the perfect way to get out and enjoy the weather – but we must do so while adhering to the law. It is illegal for a cyclist to ride their bike on the pavement. The same applies to e-scooters, which can only legally be used on private land with the landowner’s permission, and should not be ridden on public roads, pavements, or cycle paths at any time.
So if you do decide to take your bicycle out for a ride, please remain on the roads while doing so and keep off of the pavements. Thank you.
