Stay alert as high rates of infection continue in Bedford.

You will be aware that the rates of infection in Bedford have been relatively high for some time and, although they have reduced in recent weeks they have started to rise again. As a consequence, Bedford Borough Council are encouraging their residents to follow the national guidance to control the virus.

Of course, many of you will work, shop or have friends and family in Bedford so it is important that we are all alert to the situation and help in the fight against the virus.

Bedford Borough Council are encouraging their residents to continue:

• washing hands regularly
• social distancing when out
• wearing face coverings when appropriate
• get tested if you’re unwell (there is a test facility in Bedford), and
• if you’re contacted by Test and Trace to follow the guidance to self-isolate.

We are monitoring the situation in Bedford, and Central Bedfordshire on a daily basis.

The latest available data does not indicate that rates of infection in Central Bedfordshire, and, in particular, the areas around Bedford, are of concern at the moment. However, we will keep this under close review.
