As lockdown starts to be lifted we can begin to think about getting back to the important things in life – specifically, football!
Stewartby has been without a club for some years now, the main reason being a lack of numbers. But as the number of people within the parish continues to grow – all of whom have been deprived of the beautiful game for the past three months – now is the perfect time to attempt a revival of the local club.
Luckily, a couple of residents have taken it upon themselves to do just that. Social distancing rules currently do not allow us to get together and play, but as soon as they do it is hoped there will be sufficient numbers to get playing straight away. Therefore, the people responsible for setting up the new club are asking those who are interested in playing to express their interest now. Anyone of 18 years or older is welcome to join, and if there is sufficient interest their goal is to set up multiple teams for all age groups in the future. For now the games will just be friendly kickabouts, but come September 2021 the intention is to enter at least one team into the local Bedfordshire County league as well.
