It’s Easter weekend and let’s face facts – it’s weird / different / unusual.

We know that the vast majority of you folks will do your absolute best to follow the government advice on social distancing, essential journeys etc.
We do have to go through them again and ask you to continue to share the advice with your friends and family by any means possible.

The basic message stays the same: Stay Home. Protect the NHS. Save Lives.
But there are still options to get exercise and make the most of what we hope is good weather over the weekend.

You can go out to get exercise
That could be for a walk, run or cycle. Just maybe don’t plan to run a marathon or do a whole Tour de Bedfordshire if you’re on your bike. And remember the 2-metre rule.

Have a picnic – in your own garden
Yes, we have some cracking spots to visit in Bedfordshire, but for most that would mean hopping into the car to get there i.e. a non-essential journey and gathering in a public area. So try and make the most of your own space at your home.

Get some sunshine
It looks like it is going to be sunny (yes, this can change!), but more than ever, make sure to take care in the sun, slap some sun cream on, wear a hat, drinks plenty of water and go easy on alcohol etc. the last thing the NHS needs is more pressure put on them from someone suffering from the effects of too much sun.

Meet up with friends and family online
It is really important to stay in touch, whether it is by phone, text, WhatsApp, social media, video calls. Just remember that you do need to avoid meeting up in person with people from outside your home.

Don’t have a bonfire
Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to TWELVE bonfires last Sunday.

Not only is burning waste bad for the environment and a nuisance to those who wish to get fresh air but irresponsible burning puts pressure on our resources, when they could be better spent helping our community.
